Paper Overview
"Grow or die." This dictum is not new to manufacturing, and although it can be over dramatized, there is a stark truth here that companies must accept, especially in the context of today's global economy. Take a close look at the world's major manufacturing corporations whose annual revenues exceed $1 billion, and you will see that they have risen above the competition because they have learned how to respond to the pressures of conducting business in a world where suppliers, competitors, and markets can be located on any continent. Those companies whose annual revenues fall between $50 million and $1 billion - call them Mid-Market manufacturers or Strategic Growth Enterprises - face the same challenges and must also learn to master the global game.

There are solutions. Information is the lifeblood of effective planning, which in turn is the foundation for creating a tight, demand-driven supply chain. Establishing enterprise information flows is paramount, but it is a daunting task that is much more complicated than shipping parts or finished goods around the world. The right tools are needed to transform the growth strategy from theory into reality.

About the Authors
Matt Bauman has over 15 years of experience working in Discrete and Process manufacturing industries. He has eight years of experience as a management consultant, focusing on ERP implementations for both small and large companies. Matt also spent seven years working for MeadWestvaco as an ERP lead for their Sales and Distribution business units as they implemented solutions throughout North America and across the globe. His last two years there were spent focusing on business process optimization for areas such as credit and receivables management, master data maintenance, and sales analysis and reporting. Matt's expertise with business integration led to his current role as a pre-sales engineer and product development lead for EnteGreat's EDGE solution.

David Wasson has over 23 years of experience in the Discrete manufacturing industries. Prior to joining EnteGreat, Dave was a Senior Vice President and the SAP Practice Leader for Technology Solutions Company (TSC). He has held various positions of increasing responsibility since joining TSC in 1989. Prior to TSC, Dave was a senior manager at Andersen Consulting providing solutions to the Aerospace and Defense industry. He began his career at Rath & Strong where he was a lead architect of the PIOS MRPII; application addressing the unique needs of the Aerospace and Defense industry. He is most noted for his experience in supply chain management for the discrete manufacturing industry; emphasizing both forward build as well as repair and overhaul.
