Presentation Overview:
Mill Products manufacturers and converters must continue to wring productivity and cost out of operations. One of the most effective methods for accomplishing this is with the use of real-time tools and systems that provide Manufacturing Visibility. In this web presentation, we will examine how leading Mill Products companies are successfully implementing Manufacturing Visibility concepts to further these goals, not only at the mill and plant levels, but also as seen from the enterprise. Manufacturing Visibility is applied at the local level to improve performance and reduce waste streams; and at the enterprise level, it allows for improvements in supply chain management, customer order management, advanced scheduling, and production balancing across the enterprise.

Manufacturing Visibility works by using information technology to collect data from many sources, including shop-floor systems, facility manufacturing systems, corporate-wide ERP, and supply chain systems. The data is collected and analyzed, then put into context to become information, which is reported and displayed, usable by each employee to support the decision-making process. Because the data is put into context and analyzed in ways that give people information on performance, trends, and relationships, companies have the ability to chart progress toward goals by showing the results of improvement initiatives, and individuals have the ability to work collaboratively with others.

As Sonny Hathaway and Joel Ellis explain during this presentation, operational visibility is critical to the profitability of today’s Mill Products manufacturers and brings value to the company in many ways, such as reducing operating costs, providing valuable new or enhanced capabilities, providing or supporting regulatory compliance, optimizing the utilization of enterprise resources, and promoting alignment of operations with business goals and metrics.

With SAP for Mill Products, and EnteGreat’s project methodologies specifically focused on addressing manufacturing-centric issues, Manufacturing Visibility initiatives can now be achieved with far greater confidence.
