Presentation Overview:
Many companies understand that concepts like "Visibility" and Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) are needed to drive continuous improvement and performance management on the Factory Floor. Manufacturers now have choices of IT infrastructure and tool sets that can facilitate achieving this vision. Today’s capabilities and the technology to deliver them across the enterprise can be done at speeds faster than ever before.

One problem remains, however. Few companies know exactly how to start down the road to making this vision a reality beyond understanding the technical capabilities of their infrastructure or applications. At the end of the day, these tools must be deployed in ways that bring together the people and processes with the technology. This is not an out-of-the-box feature of any software product. Rather, it is an organizational journey that people at every level within manufacturing Operations must actively lead.

This presentation focuses on understanding an approach to Manufacturing Visibility that begins with doing a good job of defining value, developing key performance metrics, using the right information at the right levels, and incorporating root cause analysis to drive both business process and physical process improvements. While examining how companies have used this approach, the presenters will also discuss what benefits can be realized and specific ways that these initiatives can yield the best financial returns.

As Walter Staehle and John Clemons explain during this presentation, operational visibility is critical to the profitability of today’s manufacturers and brings value to the company in many ways.
